Preliminary Task - Hip-Hop Poster

When I think of Hip-Hop, I primarily think of the connotations of rap and street music. Therefore I wanted a sense of street features in my poster, so I used the background of a graffiti covered brick wall which is an often seen feature with rap artists due to its connotations of tough street backgrounds. The idea of graffiti was furthered developed with my style of writing 'Flush with Cash' which was the albums name and having it presented as a piece of graffiti spray paint just sprayed on over the album cover, giving the poster a feel of vandalism, suggesting the content inside may be improper. I heightened this notion by having the classic 'Parental Advisory Explicit Content' sticker on there to give an extra feel of rudeness and also fit many hip hop albums which have this moniker. A final example of this is the censored middle finger shown by one of my subjects, I did this to show a blatant example of public swearing but the censoring of it, making people feel obliged to pull the censor symbol off and see it without. It adds to my subjects character too of being an artist with a disregard for appearances, once again another feature commonly seen with hip hop artists within the particular genre I was aiming for.
